What Are The Different Types of Acne
That who are landed on this article and are looking for types of Acne, my advice for you is to know what exactly is Acne? Well I won’t take too many words describing it, so in short Acne are follicles, also known as pores which are often seen on chest, cheeks, buttocks. Acne results in pores due to overproduction of cells and getting blocked sometimes. Sebum oil which drains the surface of human body gets blocked and bacteria start growing on it. Acne results in two ways, firstly as whiteheads and secondly as blackheads.
Types of Acne:
Well now let’s read different types of Acne existing
1. Acne Vulgaris – Mild/Moderate
These are very common types of Acne. Acne vulgaris can be seen in blackheads, whiteheads, papules, nodules or sometimes as cysts.
Mild to Moderate acne vulgaris consist of following spots:
Whiteheads: Whiteheads are result of a pore which is completely blocked and when sebum oil is unable to drains the surface resulting dead skin cells, and causing tiny white spot to appear on the surface. These whitehead spots are normally faster in life cycle when compared to blackheads.
Blackheads: Blackheads result when a pore is partially blocked and when sebum oil is partially able to drain the surface slowly resulting blackheads. You might be curious to know how are these black spots generated but let me tell you these are due to skin’s own pigment, melanin, reacting with oxygen in air. Don’t be confused these
blackheads with dirt. Blackheads have longer life cycle and it can retain for longer period and these are stable structure when compared to whiteheads.
Papules: Papules are just inflamed, red, tender bumps and these don’t have a head. But do not do the mistake by squeezing it which might lead to another worsen trouble.
Pustules: A pustules are inflamed, appearing as just a red circle with a white or yellow center. But do not do the mistake of squeezing it and leading to another trouble. First read how to pop a pimple and you will be in right track to squeeze these pustules easily without any concern.
2. Acne Vulgaris – Severe
Now we will explain about severe acne vulgaris types, especially about nodules and cysts.
Severe acne vulgaris consist of following spots:
Nodules: These Nodules are comparatively larger in size, hard bumps under the skin surface. These nodules can last for a month in some condition and also a painful causer. At any cost don’t do the mistake of squeezing it and make the condition still worsen. Contact Dermatologists to get remedy for this and lesser the swelling and pain.
Most of them inject the lesion with cortisone to get treatment from nodules. In some cases Nodules can remain for more than a month as well but do not be worried as these have very good treatment.
Cysts: Cysts are sometimes mistaken with a nodule as both look almost of the same with large bumps but cysts are often filled with pus pimples. Scarring is common with cystic acne. Do not do the mistake by squeezing the acne which might lead to sever inflammation and may lead this cyst to live for more than a month. Contact Dermatologists and they have proper treatment for these cysts. Most cases they just inject cortisone shot on these lesion to reduce the swelling and pain.
3. Acne Rosacea
Acne Rosacea often looks very much similar to aforementioned acne vulgaris, and most of time acne vulgaris is often confused with acne rosacea. Acne rosacea is very much similar to the previous one that we described previously.
Rosacea is seen to be affecting millions of people all round the world, and mostly of age group falling in 30’s. I need to to thank you for this good read!! I certainly enjoyed every little bit of it.
I have got you book-marked to check out new stuff you post…
So what is the most common with teens? White heads? The pic looks like the skin condition I had several years back.
From what I can tell I have the whiteheads, the papules, and the occasional nodules. Would this mean that my acne condition is slowly becoming severe? Perhaps I need some treatments or should I visit a doctor? Wow… After seeing some of the more serious cases here I’m starting to worry a bit.
